This is the first Action Project for the Drama course. In the first unit, we read "The Taming of the Shrew" by Shakespeare and we paid special attention to Kate, one of the main characters' monologue. For this Action Project, we were asked to write a sonnet addressing one of the characters from "The Taming of the Shrew". This was our chance to give them a piece of our mind after reading the play. I learned a lot about Shakespearean language and the problems going on during that time through a poet and playwright's eyes. One problem they saw was the equality and gender issues. An example of the problem was that women could not act in the plays. Shakespeare also wrote about socio-economic inequalities. I am very proud of the sonnet I wrote because I took the form of a traditional sonnet and modernized it by turning it into a rap.
